Programs
Every Kid Counts main focus is to provide assistance to our community's youth. This is made possible through three main programs: Educational, Athletic and Philanthropic. The youth's who participate in the programs will be given a great opportunity to learn, be involved and find solutions to the challenges they are facing in today's society. When these programs work together, they help to create a well-balanced sociological life.
The Educational programs are where the largest part of the charity's budget is designated.
Interactive Educational Enhancement (IEE), positive interactive program to be integrated into a high school's curriculum, through synergistic programming, mentoring and community involvement. This proactive approach is designed to build self-esteem, encourage academic growth, reduce absenteeism, and keep students from dropping out of school. In addition, this program will provide an interactive teen concept that deals with societal challenges that affect our youth and their community.
Drug Preventions, EKC members encourage several participating professional athletes to join them in many school and organizational visitations to encourage youth of all ages to stay in school, choose a drug free lifestyle and make the right choices. This type of positive reinforcement is a healthy part of a student's character building and understanding. In addition, every year Citizens Against Substance Abuse (CASA) in Flagstaff, Arizona hosts the annual Red Ribbon Campaign, which provides the children of Flagstaff the opportunity to participate in a drug-free pledge and meet NAU athletes at their schools. With the help of Every Kid Counts of Northern Arizona – Flagstaff Chapter, CASA has been able to expand the reach of Red Ribbon Week to include Tuba City, Showlow, Williams, Parks and other surrounding communities.
Summer Youth Work Program, designed to provide high school students the opportunity to assist Every Kid Counts with its fundraising while learning responsibility and job related skills, while receiving compensation for their efforts.
Back to School Program, Designed to help fill hundreds of backpacks with school supplies then distributed out to various organizations around the valley.
Athletics are definitely a compliment to the educational system, for it instills discipline, desire, dedication and determination. These elements, if properly taught, will assist the educational instructors with disciplinary factors. The objective is to provide athletic assistance to every young boy/girl, by helping with equipment, scholarships, and field refurbishing as well as helping kids to participate in the following organizations:
Philanthropic programs help to complete the goal of EKC. Where education programs enhance the mind and athletic programs enhance the physical structure, philanthropic programs enhance characterization.
Social Interaction - this is accomplished through social programming, i.e. dances, school exchanges, tickets to professional athletic events, concerts, cultural events and locations, etc.
Kids Helping Kids Mentoring Program - Kids working as peer leaders to support the efforts of their peer in an out of the school setting. This program will provide the opportunity for the participating youth to also work in the community.
Holiday Events - Many times throughout the year our ever growing volunteer core assists in providing special events to under privilege children around the State. These events include Easter events at various parks, Halloween Events, Annual Christmas Parties held for children from single parent households, (held in conjunction with the Single Parents Association) and an annual Food and Toy drive for children of homeless, adopted or poor families.
Matching Grants Program - Provide minimal funding to organizations seeking assistance for special events and trips that will introduce and expose youths to ideal cultural environments for educational and social development.
